By laws committee meeting rescheduled
New Employees: Jan McEIroy-Misdemeanant Probation
Kathy Boots-Clerks
Paula advised that she sent e-mail and they are on the list and contact cards were included in the intro packet given to new employees by human resources at orientation.
Angela Stiner was appointed to the vacant executive board position left when Angie Bounds resigned employment with Kittitas County.
New contact cards were ordered by Paula via Vista print.
The committee to review the treasurer's books still has the information and is currently working on this. We may have a report by the next general meeting.
Correspondence: Presents conference in Wenatchee on October 24th and October 25th. Paula Hiatt and Dora Van Epps will be attending this workshop. One of the topics will be Winning an Arbitration. There was also a letter from Washington State Labor Council regarding NAFTA.
A question was brought up regarding the union board in the mail room. Dora Van Epps suggested that a board with general union information be posted in the breakroom in the courthouse downstairs. This board would have meeting information and the like.
Accountant in Health Department The Board of County Commissioners approved a business manager position. The union filed notice that we do not agree with this position being moved out of the union. The issue has been bought to PERC by Don Boxford and Don will give us an update as soon as he knows the outcome.
CompTime A grievance was filed and negotiations were held with Lisa. A public disclosure request was requested from Judy Pless regarding comp time at a 1 -1 rate for all employee groups for the past 6 years.
NovaTime Paula advised all members to review their NovaTime entries and possibly make print screens of what was submitted versus what was approved. There have been some questions regarding the processing of NovaTime by the auditor's office and we need to take individual responsibility to make sure that what was submitted was actually processed.
CDS It was brought up that we should look at the CDS permit tech positions as there seems to be happenings in the CDS department. This may be an opportune time to check with the permit techs regarding their interest in becoming represented positions.
Union Website Paula has been working on the union website to include meeting minutes. If the current Council 2 website does not seem to serve the group, we can possibly look into getting a website. Paula asked that we ask our co-workers to see if anyone knows how to set up and run a website.
Elections Deanna Pannatoni has asked for endorsement. It was discussed and agreed at the executive board meeting that the union not support any particular candidate in any election. We do not want to cause any division within the group.
Paula excused herself from the meeting. Dora Van Epps spoke with the members present about the green union shirts. It was discussed that insulated coffee mugs with the AFSCME logo is a better idea. We can order a case and supply these mugs to new members as they are hired. With mugs, there is not the issue of sizes and members not wearing the shirts.
The meeting was adjourned by Dora Van Epps at 6:10pm
Respectfully submitted,
Dora Van Epps
Local 792CH Vice President
