70 employees vote to join Council 2

Nearly 70 employees have voted to join Council 2, says Bill Keenan, Organizer for the Union.

  • Twenty members of the City of Puyallup Police Support Staff elected in a recent mail ballot to join Council 2. The new members will join the existing contract.

  • Fifteen members of the City of Mercer Island are likely to join the union following a mail ballot completed Feb. 17.

  • At mid-Columbia Library, serving Pasco, after four organizing meetings, a successful mail ballot was completed on Feb. 9. The library has a 54 member potential.

Keenan also has filed for an election for a group of mid-managers in the City of Cheney and is working on a large campaign involving a private sector Mental Health Center in Clark County.

Many of the Council 2 staff were involved in assisting in the organizing effort.

Keenan, who started as Organizer in the fall of 1998, urges members to call his office if they are aware of public jurisdictions in their areas or of private employers performing public work that might be organizing targets.

He can be reached at 1-800-775-6418.
