VOLUME 14 #3 Summer 1999

News in brief
Dues increase is approved

Delegates to the 44th biennial convention approved by a substantial margin a proposal to adjust the Council 2 dues.
Dues will be adjusted to 1.4 percent of wages and salaries up to a maximum of $36.30.
At present members pay 1.3 percent of wages and salaries and an additional $2, with a maximum deduction of $34.80. In the new structure the $2 addition is dropped.
The restructuring means a reduction in dues for all members who earn $2,000 a month or less. Members earning between $2,000 and $2,523 a month will see a slight increase in dues and those who earn more than $2,593 will see a monthly increase of no more than $1.50.

A convention baby – almost

Council 2 almost had a convention baby.
Joe Smith, Local 1533 President, left the 44th biennial convention Sunday morning to join his wife, Kerri, for the early arrival of Levi Robert Smith.
Levi waited a day, however, and was born at 6:43 a.m. on Monday, July 12 in Hood River, Ore. He was 20 in. long and 7 lb. 14 oz.
