150 attend Northwest Regional ConferenceABOUT 150 Local leadership members from Alaska, Oregon, Washington and Idaho attended the Northwest Regional Conference hosted by the Washington State Council of County and City Employees at the Sheraton Hotel, Tacoma, on the weekend of October 5 and 6. The attendees were welcomed by Chris Dugovich, President and Executive
Don Craig, AFSCME Area Education Coordinator, spoke on organizing for power. He discussed the responsibilities of local union leaders and members and how they affect the unions strength. Chuck Loveless, AFSCME Director of Legislation, outlined the legislative trends in Congress and Steve Kreisberg, Associate Director of the afscme Department of Research & Collective Bargaining, spoke on how to use the collective bargaining process not only to grow the Union, but to increase its clout. Next years conference will be held in Oregon. |
