Wenatchee supervisors join union

Seven Corrections Supervisors in Wenatchee voted Jan. 10 to join Council 2.
They join the ranks of corrections officers who became members of the union in July last year.
The supervisors, who won voluntary recognition from Chelan County following a card check, will join Local 846-DC.
Staff Representative Don Boxford organized the supervisors.

Spokane staff vote for Council 2

Fifty-four members of the Spokane County Sheriffs’ Support Staff voted Jan. 23 to join Council 2. They belonged to an existing association and voted to affiliate with the union.

The staff has an existing contract. Council 2 will take over their representation and will discuss matters they have outstanding from their association.

Spokane Staff Representative Gordon Smith organized the new members.

The Spokane County Housing Authority has lost the objection it lodged to a card check in which Council 2 was selected to represent 28 employees.

The Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC) overruled the objection.

The union was certified Jan. 10 with 89 percent of the cards signed.
