Board rules in favor of Council 2
THE NATIONAL LABOR Relations Board has ruled in favor of Council 2 in a dispute with the managers of Aberdeens Twin Harbors Group Home.
The dispute arose after 21 residential support staff at the home became members of Council 2 in a January 14 vote. The election, organized through the nlrb, marked the most recent private non-profit company joining the ranks of Council 2, most of whose members work for local government in Washington State.
In the dispute, the management of the home claimed the employees supervisor had been involved in campaigning for Council 2, making the election invalid.
On April 2 the nlrb found that the supervisors had not interfered in the election. The board certified Council 2 as the official bargaining representative. Staff Representative Kathy Brown, who organized the election, will represent the employees in negotiations to put together their first collective bargaining agreement.
