Council 2 scholarships total $65,000

Each year Council 2 offers scholarships totaling $50,000 in value. They are:


Six $2,000 scholarship awards to children who are dependents or under legal guardianship of a local union member in good standing with the WSCCCE

Six $5,000 scholarship awards to children who are dependents or under legal guardianship of a local union member in good standing with the WSCCCE

One $5,000 yearly 4-year award — totaling $20,000 — to children who are dependents or under legal guardianship of a local union member in good standing with the WSCCCE

Three $1,000 continuing education awards to members in good standing with a local union affiliated with the WSCCEE.


AFSCME offers scholarship

THE 2010 JERRY CLARK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP program for the children of AFSCME members, established in 1990 in honor of Jerry Clark who served for many years as AFSCME's political action director, will be awarded to two students who are currently sophomores majoring in the social sciences. The winners will each receive $5,000 a year for their junior and senior years of study and an opportunity to intern with the International Union's Political Action Department.

Winners will be chosen on these criteria:

  • The student must be a child or financially dependent grandchild of an AFSCME member.
  • The students mukst have a grade point average of 2.5 or above.
  • The student must be in his/her sophomore year of study.
  • The student must be a social science (that is, political science, sociology, ethnic students, communications, and so on) major at an accredited college or university.
  • The student must demonstrate a commitment to social justice and political activism.
